ha mer ika: Institutional Interruptions, is a book written and conceived by artist and writer Silvi Naçi. This 220 page soft cover book was designed in collaboration with Monica Greenwald.

ha mer ika: Institutional Interruptions, written across the two year MFA program at CalArts (2017-2019), is composed of prose, poetry, and photography – a meditation on gender, queer identity, sexuality, immigration, race, nationhood and citizenship, (de)colonialism, and especially, family relation and dysfunction. The photographs are documentation of performances from the last two years, in the States and Albania.

The text speaks to ideas of silencing of marginalized bodies–from the queer and immigrant perspective. The text starts in L.A. 2017, from memories of home before moving to the States, Albania, then back in L.A. following Naçi’s physical presence during the last two years. All of the artwork, photography and expressive type design through the poems and prose mixes Albanian and English as documentation of their performances culminating in their thesis and was launched in April, 2019.
